• The IRIS LITERACY PROJECT

Incorporated in January 2024 and granted 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, the IRIS Literacy Project partners with non-profit organizations that serve children and families. We offer our services completely free of charge.

  • The IRIS Literacy Project partners with organizations that serve at-risk, disadvantaged, and/or marginalized populations. We work alongside our partners to ensure that books, materials, and videos reach children who need them.

  • The IRIS Literacy Project (ILP) wants to start children on the road to success by bringing the fun of reading into their lives. We help our partner organizations establish a library of children’s books, but that is not enough.

  • Children benefit from hearing books read aloud. Teachers tell us that hearing a book helps students improve comprehension, build vocabulary, strengthen fluency, and foster a love of reading.

Each IRIS book has an associated video of someone reading it. While they read the book themselves, students can listen to the book being read. This has the potential of making them better readers.

  • ILP also wants to create a calm and relaxing setting for children to enjoy their IRIS books. We work with our partners to establish such an environment by helping them create reading nooks.
